Religious Parties in Israel Support Increased War Funding

Sudan Events – Agencies
Israeli Knesset members on Monday approved, in principle, an increase in the 2024 budget framework to help fund reservists and those displaced by the war in Gaza, with support from religious parties.
The Ministry of Finance stated that the vote to add 3.4 billion shekels ($906 million) to the 2024 budget passed with 58 votes in favor and 52 against.
The ultra-Orthodox religious parties had threatened to boycott the Knesset vote due to a dispute over funding their separate educational system.
The bill still needs two additional votes to become law.
