The Khartoum state government announced the removal of more than 30,000 shells and small ammunition from an area covering 2.6 million square meters in Omdurman neighborhoods.
On Wednesday, Governor Ahmed Osman Hamza chaired the High Emergency and Crisis Management Committee meeting, which discussed the epidemiological situation and vector-borne disease control.
A statement from Khartoum’s media office noted that the meeting “received a report from the National Demining Center on the removal of war remnants, indicating that an area of 2.6 million square meters in Old Omdurman has been cleared.”
The report added that 5,245 shells and 23,725 small ammunitions were collected from Karari neighborhoods, along with 1,470 shells from Um Badda neighborhoods.
The report indicated that 470,627 square meters have yet to be cleared, including areas with homes closed by their owners.
