Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko announced on Thursday that Russia is confident in completing the construction of the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant in Turkey within the agreed timeframe despite obstacles posed by Western companies. Grushko stated that the Akkuyu project is one of the most important projects in mutually beneficial economic cooperation between Russia and Turkey. According to Russia’s Sputnik news agency, Grushko said, “There is no doubt that Moscow will complete the project within the agreed timeframe, regardless of the obstacles that global Western energy security watchdogs are trying to create.”
In late July, Russia’s Rosatom announced that it had begun installing the monitoring and control systems for the reactor unit of Akkuyu’s first power plant, which is being constructed with Russian participation.
