Egypt: Setting Regulations for Car Imports and Organizing the Market
Sudan Events – Agencies
On Thursday, Egypt’s Prime Minister, Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, held a meeting to discuss the qualitative standards and regulations to organize the car market in Egypt.
Madbouly stressed the need to establish clear standards for the automotive system, which would be announced to contribute to regulating the market and protecting consumers.
He pointed out that the majority of imports should be linked to authorized dealers who have service centers in Egypt, as well as those who own assembly factories. He directed that a meeting be held with automotive sector officials and representatives to discuss the standards that can be set to achieve the state’s objectives in this sector.
The meeting also reviewed the government’s steps to localize and deepen domestic manufacturing, especially electric vehicles, including offering incentives to attract global companies to the Egyptian market, taking advantage of the country’s supportive environment for this direction.
The discussion also covered standards for importing cars equipped for people with special needs, ensuring that support reaches those who deserve it, and preventing the exploitation of these vehicles for profit.
