Officials reported on Sunday that more than 30 civilians were injured in a Russian airstrike on the city of Kharkiv in northeastern Ukraine, as reported by the German news agency.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated via Telegram that a high-rise residential building was hit, causing fires between the ninth and twelfth floors.
Kharkiv’s mayor, Ihor Terekhov, said 33 people were injured, including children.
Before Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Kharkiv was the country’s second-largest city with over a million residents. At the beginning of the war, Moscow attempted to seize the city, which is located only 30 kilometers from the border. Since then, Kharkiv has been one of the most heavily bombarded cities in Ukraine.
