North Korea’s Foreign Minister Visits Russia

Sudan Events – Agencies
The Russian embassy in North Korea said on Monday that North Korean Foreign Minister Choe Son-hui has traveled to Russia to attend the Fourth Eurasian Women’s Forum and the BRICS Women’s Forum in St. Petersburg.
The embassy posted on the Russian social network Vkontakte: “Russian Ambassador (Alexander Ivanovich) Matsegora attended the farewell ceremony for North Korean Foreign Minister Choe Son-hui at Pyongyang International Airport.”
The embassy added that the minister’s speech and her participation in the discussions are included in the program of the forum, which will be held from September 18 to 20.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has attended previous sessions of the forum, though the Kremlin has not yet announced his participation in this year’s edition.
Relations between the two countries have reached a new level this year, with Putin signing an agreement with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un pledging mutual defense during a visit to Pyongyang, according to Reuters.
The United States and its allies have accused North Korea of aiding Russia by supplying weapons for its war in Ukraine in exchange for economic and military assistance. Moscow and Pyongyang have denied the accusation.
