The Sudanese army has continued its intense attacks on the positions of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in the capital Khartoum, where fierce battles have been raging for the third consecutive day. Videos posted on social media pages associated with the armed forces show the army advancing in multiple areas, particularly in Khartoum Bahri, where they secured the Halfaya Bridge and the Halfaia Al-Muluk area.
On Saturday, Commander-in-Chief of the Army, General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, arrived at the frontlines in Khartoum State, greeting soldiers who appeared highly motivated.
The armed forces have taken full control of the Kadoro area in northern Khartoum Bahri since Friday, with sources reporting significant advances by the army in many of these locations.
In a video posted on the official army page, military personnel stated that RSF militias had turned civilian homes in Kadoro into military barracks.
The army launched heavy airstrikes on RSF positions in southern Khartoum, where their forces are concentrated in the Sports City and Central Market areas.
The Al-Mugran area in central Khartoum and the Armored Corps witnessed intense battles for hours, with heavy and medium weaponry, machine guns, artillery exchanges, and intermittent explosions continuing into Saturday evening.
The army continued to advance in the Al-Mugran area, taking control of the headquarters of Zain Telecommunications, a large building opposite the Central Bank of Sudan.
Pro-army platforms broadcast videos showing the liberation of detainees in the Halfaya area, who had been held for over a year and appeared in dire conditions, complaining of mistreatment during their captivity.
Military field sources told Al Jazeera that the Sudanese army continued its advance in the center of the capital, Khartoum, with reinforcements crossing the White Nile Bridge.
Sudanese army forces now control the Al-Mugran tourist area and are advancing east toward the Friendship Hall and south toward strategic areas southeast of the stadium tunnel in the city center.
Omdurman military forces, which crossed the White Nile Bridge (Medical Corps), now control the Al-Mugran area to the east, up to Martyr’s Mosque to the north, and south to the Ministry of Investment. They also neutralized the Central Bank of Sudan headquarters and the Sahil Tower, where RSF snipers had been stationed.
