Militia Whips Women for Wearing Niqab in Kabkabiya

“Darfur24” revealed that the RSF has prohibited women and girls from wearing the niqab in the markets of Kabkabiya locality in North Darfur.
An eyewitness reported that the Civil Protection Forces, formed weeks ago, conducted security raids in Kabkabiya’s main market and livestock market, where they whipped women wearing the niqab or face masks and forced them to remove them in public.
One of the victims, who chose to remain anonymous, told “Darfur24” that she was subjected to violence and whipping in the market by RSF personnel, who ordered her to remove her veil and refrain from wearing it again.
She also mentioned that the RSF imposed a 50,000-pound fee to obtain a permit for those insisting on wearing the niqab.
