Libyan Stability Government’s Deputy Leader: We Represent All Libyans
Salem Al-Zadama, deputy leader of the Libyan government designated by the House of Representatives, stated that the “Government of Stability” represents all Libyans and extends its administrative control over two-thirds of the country. In an interview with Asharq Al-Awsat, Al-Zadama defended the stance of eastern Libyan authorities regarding the closure of oil fields and ports, saying they sought to “protect the people’s livelihood.” He emphasized that the only solution to Libya’s ongoing crises is a comprehensive dialogue that takes into account the concerns of all political actors, aiming to reach a political agreement that leads to presidential and parliamentary elections representing everyone. Al-Zadama stressed that unifying the executive authority is an “urgent necessity” to overcome the political and institutional division, highlighting that to ensure the success of this process, a comprehensive political dialogue under the United Nations’ auspices is necessary with clear mechanisms guaranteeing full consensus reflecting Libya’s political diversity.
