Northern State Bans Wheat Seed Transport Outside the State

Acting Governor of the Northern State, Abideen Awadallah, has banned the transport of wheat seeds outside the state. He stated, “Under Emergency Order No. (12) for the year 2024, the transportation of any quantity of wheat seeds outside the state is prohibited unless written permission is obtained from the relevant authority (the Ministry of Production and Economic Resources).” The order specifies that any violator of this ban will face legal accountability and the penalties outlined in the Emergency Law or other relevant laws, including imprisonment for no more than six months and a fine of at least one million pounds, in addition to the confiscation of the wheat seeds for the benefit of the state government. The order also permits the confiscation of the transportation vehicle for the benefit of the state government.
