Rise in Inflation Rate

The general price level change (inflation) rate increased by 215.52% in September 2024 compared to September of the previous year. According to a press release from the Central Bureau of Statistics, the consumer price index (CPI) for goods and services reached 339,256.37 points in September 2024, up from 107,523.99 points in September 2023, marking an increase of 231,732.38 points with an annual inflation rate of 215.52%.

The CPI for the food and beverages category reached 155,625.88 points in September 2024, compared to 52,601.98 points in September 2023, representing an increase of 103,023.90 points and an annual inflation rate of 195.86%. This indicates that the price change for the food and beverages group increased by 195.86% in September 2024 compared to the same month in the previous year.

The CPI for urban areas was 238,730.15 points in September 2024, compared to 84,299.25 points in September 2023, reflecting an increase of 154,430.90 points with an annual inflation rate of 183.19%. This indicates that the price change in September 2024 increased by 183.19% compared to the previous year.

Meanwhile, the CPI for rural areas was 444,529.17 points in September 2024, compared to 131,653.87 points in September 2023, showing an increase of 312,875.30 points and an annual inflation rate of 237.65%. This indicates that the price change in September 2024 increased by 237.65% compared to the same month in the previous year.
