Protests in London Against Arsenal’s Partnership with Emirates Airlines Due to Sudan

Sudan Events – Follow-ups

The London for Sudan organization and the Action for Sudan organization held a protest in front of the Emirates Stadium during the Arsenal vs. Liverpool match, under the title “No to Sportswashing for Sudan,” demanding Arsenal Football Club sever its ties with its sponsor, Emirates Airlines, due to the UAE’s involvement in igniting war in Sudan and supporting the Rapid Support Forces militia.

Leaflets were distributed, and protests were held at the Emirates Stadium, holding Arsenal accountable for extending its partnership with Emirates Airlines.

The protest organizers stated: “Emirates Airlines is owned by the UAE, so any profits made go to the UAE, which is currently fueling tyranny in Sudan by financing and supporting the Rapid Support Forces militia.”

They added, “Among the most urgent of these heinous crimes at present are the ongoing massacres occurring in Al-Jazeera State over the past week, where more than 500 people have been executed, and over 100 women have taken their own lives to avoid sexual violence associated with the conflict when captured by the Rapid Support Forces.”

They pointed out that UAE profits are stained with Sudanese blood, stating, “We will not allow them to sportswash; we will condemn these attempts to conceal UAE crimes behind the approval of artificial football fans.”

They called on fans to sign a petition against the UAE and send a complaint letter to Arsenal’s management.
