UN: Over 119,000 People Flee Eastern Al-Jazeera

Sudan Events – Follow-ups
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) announced on Wednesday that the number of people fleeing violence in Eastern Al-Jazeera State has risen to more than 119,000.
In a statement, the organization said that “23,879 families, totaling approximately 119,395 people, have been displaced from Eastern Al-Jazeera and Um al-Qura since October 20.”
It noted that the displaced families have sought refuge in various areas in the states of Gedaref, Kassala, and the Nile River.
The IOM reported that communication disruptions across Eastern Al-Jazeera have hindered its field teams’ ability to provide accurate estimates of displacement from other affected sites.
