Assessing Flood Damage in Tokar

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the Humanitarian Aid Commission conducted an assessment visit to Tokar locality to evaluate the losses caused by floods. The IOM Head, Amy Pope, and Federal Humanitarian Aid Commissioner Salwa Adam met with local officials and community members who described the extensive damage to homes, schools, and vital facilities. They requested temporary shelter support.
Salwa highlighted the Commission’s role in supporting those displaced by wars and natural disasters, including floods affecting parts of Sudan. Aid distribution is underway through local organizations, with food and shelter supplies provided by donors. Pope emphasized that displacement due to disasters and conflict is rising and that efforts must be intensified to support affected people effectively.
