Sudan Events – Agencies
On Thursday, the army shot down a swarm of drones launched by the Rapid Support Forces militia towards the neighborhoods of El Fasher city, the capital of North Darfur state.
Military sources told “Sudan Tribune” that “the Rapid Support Forces launched a swarm of drones towards the southern, western, and northern areas of the city of El Fasher, including the headquarters of the Sixth Infantry Division.” The defenses of the army and the joint forces managed to shoot down seven of them.
The sources added that some of the drones were for reconnaissance, while others were equipped with cannons that attempted to target the positions of the army and the joint forces in the southeastern neighborhoods of the city of Al-Fasher.
In addition, the Rapid Support Forces shelled several locations within the city from their positions east of Al-Fasher using heavy artillery, causing a large number of injuries in the livestock market and the adjacent neighborhoods in the southeastern part of Al-Fasher.
The army responded from its command west of the city with similar shelling targeting areas believed to be occupied by the Rapid Support Forces, where loud explosions were heard and columns of smoke rose.
A military helicopter also flew for a long time over the skies of Al-Fasher before it began conducting intensive airstrikes targeting moving positions of the Rapid Support Forces in the neighborhoods of Al-Kifah and Al-Jail east of the city.
