Sources told “Darfur24” that the U.S. envoy to Sudan, Tom Perriello, discussed with Sudanese political organizations the restoration of the civilian political track. One source explained that Perriello informed several political organizations about the agreements made between the Democratic and Republican parties regarding the Sudan issue. The source added, “The two parties urged Perriello to achieve a breakthrough before the end of his term.”
Perriello held several meetings in Cairo with political organizations, including the Democratic Alliance, the Umma Party led by Mubarak Al-Fadil, and several independent figures, in a concerted effort to bridge differences between the political factions.
