Doctors Without Borders Partially Suspends Activities at Bashair Hospital

Sudan Events – Reports
Doctors Without Borders (Médecins Sans Frontières, MSF) has confirmed that a group of armed fighters stormed Bashair Teaching Hospital in southern Khartoum.
According to the organization, the hospital witnessed a gunfight on November 11, resulting in the death of one of the fighters who had been receiving treatment there.
In a statement issued on Thursday, MSF said its staff managed to escape the violence unscathed but remain deeply traumatized by the incident. The statement also noted that the hospital’s emergency department suffered significant damage due to the gunfire.
MSF announced a partial suspension of its activities at the hospital, continuing only to provide emergency medical care. The organization stated:
“Under these measures, we will not accept new patients unless they are critically injured, until further notice.”
MSF emphasized that it is working with all relevant parties to understand what happened and to ensure the hospital is respected as a weapons-free zone.
The organization expressed shock over the violation of the hospital’s sanctity by individuals believed to be fighters from the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
