Sudan Events – Follow-ups
The Island Conference reported on Saturday that the death toll in the village of Al-Lawta Al-Hajjaj in rural Al-Kamleen has risen to 23 people, according to eyewitnesses.
Eyewitnesses told the Island Conference that the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) are holding the village’s residents inside its mosque, while looting continues to target citizens’ properties, including stored food grains.
The witnesses stated that the situation in the village is worsening, with residents prevented from leaving, while their belongings are systematically plundered. Citizens have appealed to the concerned authorities and humanitarian organizations for urgent intervention to stop the violations committed by the RSF against unarmed villagers.
In a related context, the Island Conference confirmed that elements of the RSF have opened canal gates and irrigation channels to flood citizens’ homes in villages south of the island, such as Zananada Jabara and Zananada Fadhl Al-Sayed, aiming to submerge them.
According to eyewitness accounts, water has poured heavily into the abandoned homes, threatening them with complete collapse. Citizens stated that after displacing the residents of these villages, the RSF launched what they called a “water war,” documenting the acts through videos, some of which the Island Conference has obtained.
