High-level sources confirmed that the US Special Envoy to Sudan, Tom Perriello, will arrive in Port Sudan today, Monday, after his arrival was postponed by one day. According to sources reported by the “Al-Muhaqiq” news site, the US envoy will engage in important discussions with senior government officials upon his arrival. He is scheduled to hold talks with Foreign Minister Ali Yusuf and will also meet with the Chairman of the Sovereign Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan.
The sources added that a special US aircraft landed on Sunday at Port Sudan airport, carrying the advance team of the envoy. During his visit on Monday, Perriello will be accompanied by representatives from the US Agency for International Development (USAID), and discussions will be held with the Humanitarian Aid Commission.
