Finance Minister Announces New Job Opportunities in the New Year

Sudan Events – Rahab Abdullah
The Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Dr. Jibril Ibrahim, revealed new job opportunities for youth in the 2025 budget, confirming that employment had been halted for a long time, resulting in injustice to the youth.
Dr. Jibril, in a radio conference on Friday, stressed the importance of employing youth, as the state is moving towards digitalization, which requires a generation skilled in using devices. He added, “We decided to recruit new employees, at least to fill the gaps left by retirees.”
The Finance Minister promised to increase the salaries of government employees if the situation improves. He added, “We aim, as our revenues improve, to offer job opportunities to ministries and institutions, as well as facilitate access for officials to workplaces in Port Sudan or other states.”
He also committed to paying 100% of salaries for federal government employees, reversing the 40% deduction that was previously applied due to the war.
The minister confirmed that the priorities for the second-year budget have not changed due to the war, as resources remain limited while expenditures have increased because of the ongoing conflict.
He stated that the budget will focus on military spending, humanitarian responses, and ensuring food and water security for citizens impoverished by the war. Other priorities include health, ensuring access to medical care, clean drinking water, and spending on education to ensure that children’s futures are not harmed by lack of access to education.
