Mobile Israeli Airstrikes in Lebanon
Israel has expanded its mobile airstrikes across Lebanese territories between Beirut, the south, and the Bekaa Valley, coinciding with a visit by U.S. Central Command Chief General Michael Kurilla to Tel Aviv, where he discussed strategic security issues and the situation in Lebanon with IDF Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi. U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin also emphasized a commitment to finding a diplomatic resolution to the conflict in Lebanon that would allow “Israeli and Lebanese civilians to return to their border areas.”
At least 20 people were killed in a dawn airstrike on Al-Basta in central Beirut, and massacres shifted eastward in the evening, killing 13 people in initial tolls from Buday and Shamshtar. Simultaneously, Israeli forces advanced into neighborhoods inside Khiam city from its southern and eastern edges, broadening their incursion to the northeastern outskirts to tighten the siege on the city. Israeli troops also cut off potential fire supply lines from western-facing fields by controlling the outskirts of Burj Al-Muluk, Tell Al-Nahas, and olive groves in Qlaileh.
Airstrikes continued on Beirut’s southern suburbs, with ten raids following evacuation warnings.
