Sudan Events – Follow-ups
The government welcomed the exit of all media personnel and foreign TV correspondents from the areas controlled by the rebel militias to the regions under the control of the Sudanese Armed Forces.
In a tweet on the X platform, the Minister of Culture and Information and government spokesperson, Khaled Al-Eiser, said: “The Rapid Support Forces militia has engaged in barbaric behavior towards the fourth estate, humiliating and threatening journalists who covered events from their work sites based on principled journalistic values.”
He urged all institutions and international organizations concerned with press freedom and the protection of journalists to condemn the practices of the rebel Rapid Support Forces militia, which he stated had committed every crime possible. He added, “We emphasize that the Sudanese government is committed to protecting journalists and providing them with the necessary support.”
He further said, “We confirm that the journalists who chose to move to areas under the control of the Sudanese Armed Forces and leave areas of rebellion, militias, and gangs have made the right decision. This reflects their belief that the Sudanese Armed Forces work to ensure their safety and provide the appropriate environment for them to perform their work freely and easily.”
