Agar: Localization of Oil Industry in Sudan Completed
Sudan Events – Reports
Deputy Chairman of the Sovereignty Council Malik Agar praised the efforts of the Ministry of Energy and Oil staff, stating that the ministry now operates on “solid ground and international standards” with the nearing completion of its central oil laboratory project.
During his visit to the Ministry of Energy and Oil premises in Port Sudan on Sunday, Agar reviewed several new projects, including the oil distribution center and a system monitoring ship movements. He also inspected the progress of the central oil laboratory project, which commenced in October. Agar noted that previously, part of the sample testing was conducted abroad, but with the completion of this significant project, all phases of the oil industry will now be localized.
Agar urged the ministry to ensure job opportunities reflect the diversity of Sudan’s states, given that oil reserves exist in many regions across the country. He also emphasized the importance of training and capacity building for petroleum sector workers.
The project manager highlighted the capabilities and scale of the laboratory, which is considered the largest in Africa for oil and its derivatives, capable of testing various crude and product types.
