Central Bank Directs Simplification of Account Opening Procedures

The Central Bank of Sudan has instructed all operating banks in the country to simplify procedures for opening bank accounts.

The directive includes accepting either original or photocopied national ID cards and other approved identification documents, whether valid or expired, provided that banks are allowed to verify client data through the electronic civil registry system to ensure authenticity.

The Central Bank clarified that this measure aligns with its financial inclusion objectives and aims to promote financial stability by simplifying access to banking services.
