Colombia Apologizes to Sudan for the Participation of its Citizens as Mercenaries with the Militia

Sudan Events – Follow-up
The Colombian government has apologized for the involvement of Colombian citizens as mercenaries within the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia.
During a meeting with Sudan’s Ambassador to Egypt, Major General Imad al-Din Adawi, Colombia’s Ambassador to Cairo, Ana Milena de Javeria, expressed her shock at the news of Colombian citizens participating in the ongoing war in Sudan alongside the RSF militia. She described the actions as irresponsible and conveyed her government’s respect for Sudan and its sovereignty, emphasizing non-interference in Sudan’s internal affairs.
In response, Ambassador Adawi welcomed the Colombian government’s statement and pointed out that the incident underscores the involvement of various entities and nations in the war in Sudan. He stated that both the Sudanese and Colombian governments should work together to prevent Colombian citizens from being recruited as mercenaries by the rebellious militia. He added that the Sudanese government would provide Colombia with a comprehensive report on the participation of Colombian mercenaries in the hostile war against Sudan and its institutions.
