The High Committee for Currency Change and Replacement held its fifth meeting on Monday, chaired by the member of the Sovereign Council and Assistant Commander-in-Chief of the Army, Major General Ibrahim Jaber Ibrahim, who is also the head of the committee.
Minister of Culture and Information and official spokesperson for the committee, Khaled Al-Aseir, stated in a press statement that the meeting discussed several issues related to ensuring the readiness of the banking sector, the Central Bank of Sudan, and commercial banks for the currency replacement process.
Al-Aseir added that the meeting also reviewed preparations in the states concerning security, banking arrangements, and securing the central room and rooms in the states for the currency replacement process.
He stated, “We reassure the Sudanese people that the procedures for currency change and replacement are progressing well on both the security and banking fronts,” noting that the meeting also addressed the role of the media in educating citizens about the importance of opening bank accounts and depositing funds within the time frame that will be announced. He mentioned that the announcement for the start of the currency replacement process will be made soon.
He emphasized that the committee has devised a comprehensive plan for the replacement process to prevent any harm to the citizens from these procedures.
