Al-Burhan and Kiir Discuss Oil Issues and Border Security

On Wednesday, the Head of the Transitional Sovereign Council, General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, held talks in Juba with the President of South Sudan, Salva Kiir Mayardit, focusing on enhancing and developing bilateral relations and advancing prospects for joint cooperation.
In a press statement, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Hussein Al-Amin, explained that General Al-Burhan’s visit to Juba is part of the ongoing consultations between the leaderships of the two countries. He added that the visit aims to offer support to President Kiir and the government of South Sudan regarding developments in the south. Ambassador Al-Amin also mentioned that General Al-Burhan provided President Kiir with a comprehensive explanation of the situation in Sudan in light of the rebellion led by the terrorist Rapid Support Forces militia against the state and its institutions.
He highlighted the progress made by the armed forces, regular forces, and joint forces in all operational sectors. The Deputy Minister also mentioned that the visit addressed cooperation between the two countries in oil, trade, and border security, and contributed to revitalizing and strengthening bilateral relations.
For his part, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of South Sudan, Majak Filmon Majok, confirmed that the visit of the Head of the Sovereign Council to the Republic of South Sudan came within the framework of the strong ties between the two nations. He pointed out that the two presidents discussed several common issues, primarily cooperation in the oil sector, border security, and economic and trade collaboration between the two countries.
Majok expressed hope that this visit would strengthen cooperation between Sudan and South Sudan, benefiting the peoples of both countries.
