Musk Spent Over $250 Million to Support Trump’s Election Bid
New documents have revealed that Elon Musk spent over $250 million to help Donald Trump win the presidential election in November, shedding light on the influence of one of the world’s richest individuals on this year’s White House race.
New disclosures filed with the Federal Election Commission late Thursday night showed that the billionaire owner of electric car maker Tesla and aerospace company SpaceX donated $259 million to groups supporting Trump’s 2024 campaign.
These massive donations have made Musk one of the largest financiers of a presidential campaign in U.S. history, helping him become a key political ally of Trump and a major player in shaping the policy of the next Republican administration.
According to Reuters, Musk donated $239 million to America PAC, a super PAC he founded to mobilize voters in support of Trump. Additionally, in late October, Musk contributed another $20 million to RBG PAC, a group that sought to convince voters that Trump would not sign a nationwide abortion ban. The group’s name references the late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, a liberal icon known for her support of abortion rights.
Musk also owns the social media platform X and serves as an advisor on Trump’s transition team. Trump has selected Musk, along with former Republican presidential candidate and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, to lead a task force aimed at reducing government spending and regulatory burdens.
On Thursday, Musk and Ramaswamy met with lawmakers at the Capitol, seeking their support for comprehensive spending cuts requested by Trump. The two advocated for firing thousands of federal employees, scaling back regulations, and eliminating expired programs, such as veterans’ healthcare.
