Sudan Demands U.S. to Stop Nations Supporting Militia

Sudan Events – Follow-ups
The Sudanese government commended the United States’ position expressed by State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller on Thursday, condemning the bombing and attacks by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia on the Zamzam camp for displaced persons in North Darfur.
Sudanese Minister of Culture and Information and government spokesperson Khaled Al-Ayeser stated:
“The Sudanese government appreciates this stance and simultaneously calls on the U.S. to classify this militia as a terrorist organization, just as it has done with other terrorist organizations worldwide that have committed far less severe and brutal crimes than the unprecedented barbaric atrocities perpetrated by the rebellious RSF militia against defenseless Sudanese civilians, women, and children.”
He noted that these acts have resulted in the killing, displacement, and forced migration of citizens.
Al-Ayeser emphasized that the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) have been protecting civilians and have not targeted refugee camps or civilians during the war. On the contrary, they have worked to safeguard them, sacrificing lives to achieve this noble goal.
He stated that the SAF consistently urged civilians through various media outlets to stay away from military operation zones to preserve their lives and protect their properties.
“The SAF has tirelessly facilitated the delivery of emergency supplies and supported humanitarian organizations in their work,” he added.
He further affirmed that the SAF operates in compliance with international humanitarian law and standards for civilian protection.
Al-Ayeser clarified misconceptions about the political transition toward a civilian government, stating that it must be achieved through democratic elections, allowing the Sudanese people to choose their representatives.
“This should mirror democratic practices in the U.S. and other European nations, rather than a random and selective approach pursued by some governments unrelated to democracy. These governments seek to impose a small, widely rejected group to represent Sudan without any legitimate basis,” he said.
He added that Sudan’s government represents a foundational phase to overcome the complexities of war and the challenges left by recent years, during which some civilian forces played a negative role.
The government, he said, is working sincerely to establish a sustainable solution acceptable to all Sudanese people, built on genuine democratic principles.
“We aim to preserve the significant achievements of the December Revolution, unlike some civilian forces whose reckless actions have plunged the country into bloody conflicts,” he stated.
Al-Ayeser reiterated Sudan’s full cooperation with the U.S. government and all international and regional organizations seeking a sustainable resolution acceptable to the Sudanese people. He warned against international agendas pushed by some parties at global forums, aimed at destructive objectives.
He also urged the U.S. administration to put an end to the interference of certain neighboring and regional countries that provide direct support to the rebellious RSF militia, a factor contributing to the killing and displacement of hundreds of thousands of civilians inside and outside Sudan.
