Human Rights Watch reported on Tuesday that the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) had killed dozens of civilians and raped 79 women and girls in attacks on two towns in South Kordofan.
The report stated that, between December 2023 and March 2024, the RSF killed and injured many civilians during waves of attacks on the towns of Heibala and Fayu in South Kordofan State.
According to the report, which was based on witness interviews, 56 unarmed civilians were killed during these attacks, including 11 women and one child. Some victims were executed in their homes, while others were shot dead in the streets.
The organization also documented the rape of 79 girls and women, with some cases involving sexual slavery. These findings were based on interviews with survivors, witnesses, relatives, and friends of the victims.
