The Broad Islamic Current has elected Dr. Salah Mohamed Al-Hassan as its leader, succeeding the former Secretary-General of the Islamic Movement, Ali Karti.
A press release from the Current’s Media and Communication Organization stated that Dr. Salah Mohamed Al-Hassan, Acting Leader of the State of Law and Development Party, was unanimously elected as leader during the Current’s ninth session. This followed a full meeting of its Presidential Council, which reviewed a report from Ali Karti on the previous term.
The session discussed several papers, most notably one on future prospects, which emphasized opening dialogue with other Islamic and national forces to build a broad national movement capable of addressing upcoming challenges.
The council reaffirmed its support for the armed forces and allied forces until the “Dignity Battle” concludes victoriously. It also praised friendly countries, international organizations, and allies for standing with Sudan during this war.
