Government: Seizure of Fake Currency

On Thursday, the Higher Committee for Currency Exchange and Replacement held a meeting chaired by the Member of the Sovereign Council, Major General Ibrahim Jaber, the head of the committee.
The committee reviewed the technical committees’ reports on the currency replacement process, and it was briefed on the movement of money in the targeted states, as well as the status of deposits and withdrawals in banks and the citizens’ response to the currency replacement.
Minister of Culture and Information, and government spokesperson, Khalid Al-Aisar, stated in a press statement that the meeting was briefed on the reports from the technical and security committees from the states involved in the currency replacement process. He noted that quantities of counterfeit currency had been seized in several areas.
He confirmed that the security committees are working efficiently to monitor the flow of money and urged citizens to be cautious when dealing with counterfeit currencies, reassuring that security agencies are fully prepared to monitor the process.
The Minister thanked the citizens, bank employees, and security personnel for their effective role in ensuring the success of this process, noting that the citizens’ enthusiasm reflects a progressive national sentiment and deep understanding of national issues.
