Pursuing Militia Leaders and Their Supporters Tops Attorney General’s Meeting with ICC Prosecutor

The Attorney General, Fatih Taifour, affirmed Sudan’s commitment to accountability and combating impunity, stating that significant progress has been made within the National Committee to investigate crimes and violations of both national law and international humanitarian law.
He pointed out the issuance of arrest warrants and communication with the General Secretariat of Interpol to issue red notices to pursue those involved in crimes and atrocities committed since April 15, 2023, particularly in Darfur.
The Attorney General met with the International Criminal Court Prosecutor, Karim Khan, at the court’s headquarters in The Hague. Taifour thanked the ICC Prosecutor’s office for inviting him to visit the court and for discussing ways to facilitate cooperation, alongside attending the final hearings in the trial of Ali Kushayb.
For his part, the ICC Prosecutor expressed gratitude to the Attorney General for responding to the invitation, cooperating with the Prosecutor’s office, and facilitating the visits of court delegations. He affirmed the court’s openness to all options that would achieve justice and enhance cooperation with Sudan and its judicial authorities, in line with the principle of complementarity.
