Sudan Events – Follow-up
On Sunday, Vice President of the Sovereign Council Malik Agar, accompanied by Minister of Interior Khalil Basha, visited the Sudanese Certificate Exam centers in Atbara, with the presence of the Minister of Education Dr. Ahmed Al-Khalifa, Governor of River Nile State Dr. Mohammed Al-Badawi Abu Qurun, the state’s security committee, and the Minister of Education of the state, Ahmed Hamid.
Agar reviewed the preparations and measures taken by the Ministry of Education and the state, confirming the government’s determination to hold the exams on the scheduled date. He praised the efforts of the Ministry of Education and River Nile State.
He directed the state government and security agencies to strengthen coordination between all related institutions to secure the exam process, especially since the state hosts a large number of students and teachers.
The Vice President of the Sovereign Council dismissed claims by some parties that holding the exams this year would lead to the division of the country, pointing out that there are students who have not yet sat for the Sudanese Certificate Exam and it is necessary for them to take the exam this year due to the backlog.
On his part, Dr. Ahmed Al-Khalifa, the Acting Minister of Education, stated that the Vice President’s visit, accompanied by the Minister of Interior to assess the preparations for the exams in the state, is a strong support and morale booster. He confirmed their readiness to hold the exams on the scheduled date, December 28.
Al-Khalifa praised the efforts of teachers across Sudan for their patience and dedication to ensuring the exams proceed despite the ongoing war in the country.
In the same context, Governor of River Nile State, Mohammed Al-Badawi, revealed that his state is hosting 21,000 students for the exams, a number larger than the state’s own 18,000 students. These students are distributed across 239 centers. He added that the state has taken significant steps to ensure the security of the exams and has formed committees to prepare accommodation, exam venues, and ensure a suitable environment for students and teachers.
