Sudan Events – Follow-ups
The 6th Infantry Division in El Fasher revealed that the death toll from the brutal attack launched by the Rapid Support Forces militia on Saturday evening using two missiles from a drone on a market in the “Awlad Al-reef” neighborhood has risen to 40, including children. In addition, 25 people were injured.
The division’s statement confirmed that all the victims and the wounded were street vendors, tea sellers, milk traders, and snack vendors who frequented the market at night to make a living, avoiding the militia’s attacks during the day.
Regarding military operations, the statement said that the army and joint forces managed to destroy 13 combat vehicles and kill dozens of militia fighters northeast of the city on Sunday, December 15. It also reported that the army, joint forces, and local resistance forces thwarted a new infiltration attempt into El Fasher from the southeastern axis, with skirmishes lasting about 1.25 hours, resulting in another defeat for the militia and heavy losses in equipment and personnel.
The 6th Infantry Division also noted that more militia fighters had fled and surrendered their weapons to local leaders due to ethnic conflicts and internal purges. Citizens of El Fasher were advised to remain cautious of the militia’s nighttime drone movements targeting civilian gatherings and markets.
The statement emphasized that El Fasher remains stable, with the army deployed everywhere, ensuring the city’s protection. The statement concluded with optimism for an imminent victory.
