Government: Violations by Foreign Organizations in Sudan

Sudan Events – Rehab Abdullah
The Sudanese Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid, Salwa Adam Benia, revealed that some foreign organizations operating in Sudan have exceeded their mandates and violated the rules and regulations governing humanitarian work in the country, warning that such actions could lead to accountability.
She called on donors, particularly Switzerland, to fulfill their financial commitments to support the humanitarian process in Sudan.
During a meeting at her office on Wednesday with Swiss Special Envoy for the Horn of Africa, Ambassador Sylvain Ester, along with the delegation from the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and the Swiss Cooperation Office in Cairo, she confirmed that the Sudanese government, through the Humanitarian Aid Commission, is committed to facilitating and expediting the delivery of humanitarian assistance to those affected by the war across Sudan.
Salwa informed the envoy about the hindrances caused by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in obstructing the flow of aid, diverting aid routes, and looting aid trucks and assets of humanitarian organizations. She noted that the failure of foreign organizations and UN agencies to condemn the documented violations of the RSF is encouraging further violations and attacks on the rights of others.
For his part, the Ambassador affirmed the strong relationship between Switzerland and Sudan and conveyed an official message from his country expressing a desire to build a strong and balanced relationship based on mutual respect and respect for Sudan’s sovereignty. He also emphasized that Switzerland will work with partners in Sudan’s humanitarian operation to increase support for humanitarian efforts and ensure food security in Sudan, appreciating the significant role of the Sudanese Humanitarian Aid Commission.
