Revealing the 2025 Budget is Free of New Taxes

The technical committees of the ministerial sectors in the Council of Ministers approved, during their meeting on Wednesday at the council’s headquarters in the Ministry Complex, the emergency budget project for the fiscal year 2025, presented by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning, Abdullah Ibrahim, to be submitted for final approval by the Council of Ministers.
The new budget proposal brings good news to citizens, most notably that it is free from any new taxes, while committing to increase spending on key priorities such as supporting the war effort, the health and education sectors, electricity, humanitarian aid for the displaced, and supporting media organizations. Additionally, it emphasizes the importance of expanding revenue-generating measures.
The proposal also outlines the challenges facing the budget in terms of resource mobilization and public spending.
The Undersecretary of Finance reviewed the performance of the 2024 public budget, its commitment to spending in line with priorities, including supporting the war effort, the health sector, humanitarian aid, employee compensation, the provision of essential goods and services, state transfers, agricultural season support, electricity, and fulfilling external obligations.
