Sudan Events – Follow-ups
Attorney General, Al-Fateh Tafoor, stated that judicial authorities could resort to issuing in absentia judgments for fugitive RSF members who are present in six unnamed countries, if they do not surrender to justice.
In his weekly briefing on RSF crimes, on Monday, the Attorney General urged these countries to cooperate with Sudan regarding the accused. He added, “We expect countries to cooperate with Sudan according to UN agreements and the Riyadh Convention on the extradition of criminals. If this is not done, in absentia trials will be held, and we will reciprocate accordingly.”
Taifoor pointed out that more than 31,000 cases of violations committed by the RSF are on the table of the Public Prosecution. The RSF rebels have also released 19,481 prisoners from jails, recruited them into their ranks, and committed various violations and crimes. Additionally, the RSF put 250 hospitals out of service, using 15 of them for military purposes in different areas. The RSF also targeted over 540,000 civilian objects, including 80% of citizens’ homes.
