Russian Region Cancels Compensation for Soldiers Injured in War
Authorities in the Transbaikalia region of Siberia have canceled the one-time compensation previously given to soldiers who suffered permanent injuries while participating in the war in Ukraine.
The compensation had ranged from 100,000 to 500,000 rubles (1,000 to 5,000 dollars), depending on the severity of the injury, according to the Siberian Express Telegram channel.
The Ministry of Social Affairs in the region explained that the funds will now be directed towards medical treatment and care for the soldiers, as well as fuel allowances.
It is noteworthy that in November (last month), the Russian government, based on orders from President Vladimir Putin, decided to provide varying payments to the injured at the national level.
