Sudan Events – Rehab Abdullah
The Humanitarian Commissioner, Salwa Adam, described the claims of famine in Sudan as pure fabrication, asserting that all factors determining famine are absent in Sudan. She pointed out that some organizations have agendas disguised as humanitarian aid. She said, “We reject the involvement of humanitarian work in political matters.”
During the weekly briefing on Sudan’s food security status, held in Port Sudan on Sunday, the Humanitarian Commissioner confirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring aid reaches those affected, stressing that any claims about the government obstructing aid are false.
Salwa emphasized that any organization or agency registered in Sudan that fails to adhere to humanitarian principles and the country’s policies will face legal action. She added, “We are taking measures against anyone spreading false information about Sudan, and they will not be allowed to carry out any activities in the country.”
She also called on the international community and organizations to condemn the actions of the Rapid Support Forces militia in blocking and obstructing the delivery of humanitarian aid to the needy in Al-Fasher and Darfur’s displacement camps.
