Shendi – Rehab Abdullah
The Head of the Popular Resistance in Shendi Locality, Major General (retired) Tarek Youssef Ahmed Jamal Al-Din, revealed that legal actions have been initiated against individuals who spread false information attributed to him, which targeted the Shendi Security Committee, the Commander of the Third Infantry Division in Shendi, Major General Hamdan Abdel Qader, and criticized the armed struggle movements.
Major General (retired) Tarek denied receiving an official order for his dismissal from the head of the Popular Resistance, saying, “My appointment was made by the state governor, and there has been no official communication about our dismissal. If an official order comes, we will accept it with open arms, but we will continue working out of patriotism.” He pointed out that the Deputy, Sheikh Al-Amin, came with popular delegation.
He also refuted, in a press conference (Sunday), claims that he had information regarding the whereabouts of strategic sites and ammunition depots in Shendi, saying, “This is entirely false.” He revealed that a report had been filed with the Shendi police under number 1276, adding, “Our military service speaks for itself, as we served in West Darfur, and our lives are cheap for the sake of the country.”
Tarek accused corrupt individuals of working to divide the national ranks and spread discord. He affirmed that they remain a united body with a single goal against those seeking to harm the country. He also stated their strong confidence in the Third Infantry Division, the Security Committee of the Nile River State, the Sovereign Council, and the Director of the National Intelligence and Security Service. He regretted the publication of news intended to split the national unity and noted that such lies were exposed, as they had previously targeted the Commander-in-Chief of the army and other national leaders. He announced their unity as the Popular Resistance alongside the armed forces and all security and police agencies.
Major General (retired) Tarek cleared his deputy, Sheikh Al-Amin, of any involvement in the issue concerning the martyrs of the Al-Maqa’il camp, deeming the allegations completely false.
He also denied any connection between the changes in the armed forces, including Major General Hamdan’s transfer from the command of the Third Infantry Division to the Military Police, stating that such changes are routine and that transfers do not happen overnight but rather after consultations lasting one to two months. He confirmed that Major General Hamdan is known for his integrity and patriotism, adding, “Transfers are common and have affected several infantry divisions, and they are unrelated to the false claims spread by malicious individuals.”
