The Sudanese Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ali Yusuf Sharif, warned of the dangers of consultations being conducted by some political and civil parties to form an “alternative government.”
Sharif stressed his rejection of moves he described as “targeting the fragmentation of Sudan, similar to the situation in Libya, which is ruled by two governments in the east and west.”
In statements quoted by Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper, Ali Yusuf confirmed that any movements aiming to form an alternative government would weaken Sudan and complicate efforts to resolve the current crisis.
The Sudanese minister stated that “the military option is the only way to deal with the ongoing internal war.” He added that the Sudanese army is heading towards a military solution, as there is no alternative negotiation path at this time.
Sharif believes that the final solution to end the war must include a ceasefire agreement first, followed by the complete dismantling of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
