On Tuesday in Omdurman, Chairman of the Transitional Sovereign Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, attended the Women’s Independence Day celebrations organized by women’s sectors in the Popular Resistance of Khartoum State, in honor of Sudan’s Independence Day.
Al-Burhan praised the role of Sudanese women in the Battle of Dignity, describing them as the backbone of society and makers of men. He highlighted that Sudanese women have exceptional qualities, bearing the heaviest burdens during wars, and their resilience and support have played a major role in facing challenges and thwarting plans against Sudan.
He also announced upcoming amendments to the constitutional document, including specifying quotas for women in all levels of governance and administration. He urged media outlets to highlight women’s contributions in various fields and promised to develop initiatives that empower women.
