The Sudan Sanctions Committee of the Security Council is preparing to hold an informal consultation session on January 10, during which it will discuss the final report of its expert team amidst increasing international calls to protect civilians and expand measures to contain the escalating conflict in Sudan.
The committee, established under Security Council Resolution 1591 in March 2005, includes all members of the Council. During the session, the committee will receive a briefing on the final report of its expert team, which was distributed to Security Council members on December 23, 2024.
