Army Detains Soldiers Who Killed a Rebel After Capturing Him

The Sudanese army announced the detention of soldiers involved in killing a captured rebel, describing the incident as an individual act that contradicts the military’s values.
In a statement issued by the official army spokesperson on Thursday, it said, “Some social media platforms circulated a video showing a captured rebel being killed by one of the soldiers.”
The statement added, “The Armed Forces clarify that this deplorable behavior represents an individual transgression, which is condemned by the values of religion, law, and military ethics. The perpetrators of this crime have been apprehended and will be tried in accordance with the Armed Forces Law.”
The statement emphasized the army’s strict commitment to adhering to international humanitarian law and the rules of engagement, vowing to hold any individual who violates these principles accountable without leniency.
