America expects full implementation of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza
Harris said that the agreement could bring immediate relief to the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip by increasing humanitarian aid, and it could also lay the foundation for ending the war and bringing security to Israel.
The White House stated in a statement that Harris expressed her belief that a ceasefire could form the basis for creating a more peaceful future for both the Israeli and Palestinian peoples.
For his part, Secretary of State Antony Blinken said in a press conference that he expects the deal to move forward despite some outstanding details, and that implementation will begin next Sunday.
ABC News had reported earlier today that U.S. National Security Council spokesman John Kirby expressed confidence in the implementation of the Gaza agreement starting Sunday and called for a “regional settlement” regarding the governance of Gaza after the war.
The American official added that there is a need to reach a settlement on some final details of the agreement that was concluded yesterday.
Israel and Hamas reached a ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip and a prisoner exchange, announced yesterday, Wednesday, after arduous negotiations mediated by Egypt, Qatar, and the United States, set to take effect next Sunday.
