Sudan Events – Follow-ups
On Tuesday, the Member of the Sovereign Council and Assistant Commander-in-Chief, Major General Engineer Ibrahim Jaber Ibrahim, chaired a meeting of the High Committee for Currency Replacement and Substitution, attended by the Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Dr. Jibril Ibrahim.
The committee commended the efforts of banking institutions, the Ministry of Communications, Digital Transformation, and telecommunications companies for their role in facilitating banking operations since the start of the substitution process.
The committee directed commercial banks not to deal with certain groups engaged in usury practices and emphasized to security forces the need to take necessary actions regarding such transactions.
The Minister of Finance stated in a press statement that the committee heard complaints from some states regarding liquidity shortages, and added that the committee had instructed the provision of necessary liquidity to enable citizens to withdraw the agreed amounts.
