The Somali Army Eliminates 16 Militants in the Central Region

The Somali Army announced on Wednesday that it had killed 16 militants from the al-Shabaab terrorist group during an operation in the Hiran region in central Somalia. According to the Somali News Agency, the army, in collaboration with local forces, carried out a large-scale operation in Hiran to counter the al-Shabaab group, which is affiliated with al-Qaeda. During the operation, the army succeeded in gaining control of several strategic locations in the region.

The army confirmed that the ongoing operation aims to completely liberate Somalia from terrorist groups and ensure sustainable peace and security for its people.

It is worth noting that the Somali forces have been engaged in battles against the al-Shabaab group for over a decade and, in recent months, have managed to regain control of several areas in the central and southern parts of the country.

The Somali army carried out extensive military operations last night against al-Shabaab militants in strategic areas of the Hiran region, located in the eastern part of the country. The Somali News Agency reported, citing military sources, that the army managed to liberate several areas that were considered strongholds of the armed militants. The sources added that the operations resulted in the death of several militants and the destruction of their sites and hideouts, which contained large quantities of weapons and ammunition.
