Sudan Events – Follow-ups
The Secretary-General of the Travel Bus Committee in River Nile State, Ismail Idris, announced the resumption of travel services from Atbara Terminal to all secure states. This decision follows agreements and resolutions reached between the committee and the terminal’s operations management, pending final solutions from the Port Sudan Transport Authority.
Idris highlighted the challenges facing the transport sector, particularly the rising operational costs and conflicts between transport operators and the terminal administration. He denied rumors about plans to increase ticket prices, stressing that there are no political motives behind the issues, aside from the financial burdens associated with high operational expenses, which have forced many companies out of business.
The Secretary-General emphasized that the committee acknowledges the country’s difficult circumstances and does not wish to diminish the Sudanese people’s joy over the recent victories of their armed forces. He added that they are actively involved in facilitating travel arrangements across various regions.
Previously, the committee had announced a suspension of travel services from Atbara Terminal.
