Sudan Events – Follow-ups

The Director of the General Traffic Department, Major General Siraaj al-Din Mansour Khalid, instructed the Director of the Fast Track Division to initiate arrangements to open the Challenge Road in preparation for the voluntary return of Khartoum residents.

This came during his visit on Sunday to the Fast Track Division, where he reviewed all vital sectors along the road, supporting them with patrols, and inaugurating the Awtayb and Sheikhab sectors and the Jabal Gari sector to ensure road security and facilitate traffic flow.

He also instructed traffic officers to intensify guidance work for road users and provide necessary assistance.

During the visit, Colonel Aqad Mohamed Ahmed, commander of the Awtayb convoys, praised the cooperation of the police forces and their support to the armed forces in the Battle of Dignity, confirming that the road has become completely safe from the city of Shendi to Khartoum Bahri.

The Police Media Office’s follow-ups revealed that the General Traffic Department is implementing its plan, which includes road safety programs and guiding and educating road users.

The voluntary return of citizens is scheduled to begin next Monday, with citizens returning safely under the supervision of the General Traffic Department.
